Telluride, Colorado Winter Elopement Inspiration
Most people envision summer or fall when they think “wedding” but today, we are here to show you how stunning a Colorado winter wedding can be! Leigh & Cody had an adventure elopement in February 2020 in Telluride, Colorado. We saved this blog to show it off just ahead of the 2020/2021 winter season! They hired us (Joe & Rhonda) to plan an all day elopement experience, starting with a sunrise ceremony, followed by an authentic sleigh ride and some fun in snowshoes!
Winter in Colorado provides many “bluebird days” when there’s not a cloud in the sky, and the sun warms your skin almost like magic. If you’re out skiing or hiking, you will actually start sweating and need to peel off some layers! That said… western CO is not a frozen tundra in the winter time, and it is a perfect time to elope here! There are fewer tourists (except perhaps, at the actual ski resort) and it’s easier to book your preferred lodging and choice wedding vendors like flowers or hairstyling. (See our blog post “Top 5 Reasons to Elope in the Snow.”)
In the towns we serve (Telluride, Ouray & Ridgway) there is snow on the ground most all the time from December through April. Although most “backroads” aren’t plowed during winter, it’s fun to rent a snowmobile and drive to a ceremony location that no one else will have. Or even if you want to keep it short with one of our Mini Elopements, we have some beautiful snowy locations to choose from!
There are lots of fun winter activities to do on your honeymoon in our area! In addition to a snowmobiling and sleigh rides adventure, there are romantic hot springs, cross-country skiing, sledding, and of course snow skiing!
If these pictures make you more curious about eloping in the snow, see our Winter Elopement Guide for tips and ideas. Of course, we will always be happy to answer questions you have about certain areas or how to get here in the winter. We will be happy to help! Click here to email us.
