Coronavirus is spreading and in the wedding industry, couples are getting nervous as their big day approaches. This is going to be a hard pill to swallow for so many couples that have already paid tens of thousands of dollars on their wedding including… flights, flowers, photography and everything else that goes into a wedding.

I’m also seeing weddings get cancelled in the mountains of Colorado.

One thing that isn’t being cancelled though (at least for us at Elope Telluride) is our elopements, and our business will follow all local public regulations. When you’re dealing with just two people and a photographer, it’s much easier to work around obstacles that a big wedding can’t be flexible with. Couples who were flying out here to the western slope of Colorado are now making it a road trip. If they had a party reserved in a big venue, they are now switching to smaller towns.

For me, as an elopement photographer, I am taking my couples far from any contact, up in the mountains, where we can have some amazing views and they can exchange vows in a safe way. Because there is no reception afterwards and no one else in attendance, everyone stays safe and the elopement goes on as planned! You still get the amazing views and you still get the wedding you’ve always dreamed of!

As far as weddings go, I can’t speak to what you should or should not do. All I can do is let you know that there’s a safer option right now. You can still have your wedding, without the guests and if your photographer can’t make it, I’d be more than glad to talk to you about photographing you.
